While these mics need power, you don't have to worry about draining your camera batteries. These mics are usually self-powered with a battery. Just be sure to pack some extra 9-volt batteries so you don't lose your sound source. These microphones are often available in mono and stereo varieties.

Be sure to keep extra batteries to keep the mic powered. We recommend lithium or premium alkaline batteries.

These microphones typically have a shotgun pattern. Shotgun microphones are highly directional. They have small areas of sensitivity to the left, right, and rear but are significantly less sensitive to the side and rear than other directional microphones.
